About Ravy Vajravelu

Ravy Vajravelu, MD MSCE, is a gastroenterologist in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He diagnoses and treats general gastroenterology conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and gastrointestinal bleeding. He also performs upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to evaluate gastrointestinal symptoms and screen for intestinal cancers.

Dr. Vajravelu’s research focuses on using medical big data to identify best practices for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal conditions. Additionally, he uses this information to predict which patients are most likely to benefit from particular medical interventions. He is the principal investigator of The Prediction and Epidemiology for Gastrointestinal Conditions Lab (PEGi Lab).
